Shu Uemura Express Makeover and Hauls.

After the trip to Ranchan and lunch at Kim Bay, we went to Shu Uemura to redeem our FB e-coupon. Read more about the e-coupon here. Since the UV underbase mousse (travel size) haven't arrived to Kuching outlet yet, we just have the makeover first and collect the base when it arrive later.

Basically the express makeover is for you to try the new collection products which include the underbase mousse.

Jong Jen during the makeover.

The fellow who did my makeover. He move away when I point the camera towards him. So I have to take the picture from the mirror reflection.

The stuffs he used for the makeover. He only apply the base, face powder, blush and lip gloss.
For Jong Jen, the beauty stylist also line her eyes and put some mascara on.

The underbase mousse. The texture is light and smooth.

I'm a lil disappointed with the makeover. I didn't expect much, but it really annoys me when the beauty stylist didn't blend the blush properly. The lip gloss he put on make me look sick. OMG. But the makeover give me a chance to try Shu Uemura product. The lip gloss texture is nice. Non-sticky and light. The blusher colour is awesome, I wish he apply it better. Regarding the underbase mousse and the face powder. They both feel nice. But both makes me look grey. It could be the tint and the sunscreen in the product. But the best thing is the brushes they used. Shu Uemura brushes feels awesome. It's feels soft and luxurious! Now I understand the crazed over Shu Uemura brushes.

The makeover after few hours. My face looks grey-er than usual. The beauty stylist match me with the wrong powder  guess.

I wipe the makeup off, and redo my makeup in the car. I feel much much better now. The makeover makes me feels conscious.
After the makeover, I went hauling some stuffs.
I think Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System did more damage than good to my skin. So I'm in search for skincare without dimethicone, sodium laureth sulfate and alcohol. My skin changed from oily to slightly dry. So I end up with Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Face Wash and Moistuzing Lotion. I tried both last night. So far so good. I like the lotion especially.
I got some Q-tips for RM1.90 and 6 packet of wet tissues for RM6.90. Bella gave me then hand sanitizer cause she bought extra. The second bottle only cost RM1

I received a postcard from Clinique few days ago. The postcard entitled me for a free personal makeup workshop and a free lipgloss. Luckily the Clinique SA just gave me the lipgloss skipping the personal workshop. I had enough of makeover that day.

Lastly I bought these two shower thingy from The Body Shop. One of it (the aqua one) is for my mini giveaway winner. I'll announce the winner tonight.

I might as well end the makeup shopping ban...

...even tho May is only about a month away. *Sigh* The thing is I keep on buying stuffs this month. I noticed how ridiculously often I break the self imposed shopping ban. I can't stop myself especially when it come to bargain price! I mean real bargain.

First is the awesome Stage Cosmetics Clearance Sale. I believed Stage Cosmetics gonna change packaging and formulation, even more, most the product were manufactured in 2008. You can read more about Stage sale here.

And then, I went out to watch Sucker Punch yesterday. The movie is perfection! Kanpeki! I couldn't ask for more, not even a sequel. I love any movie that use Bjork, Eurythmic and Queen song. Furthermore, babes with sweet names like Blondie, Amber, and Baby Doll kicking ass like that is really breathtaking. I'm grinning like a fool throughout the movie. Wait. This is not movie review. What I really want to talk about is my second haul from Stage Cosmetics.

And so, I bought another lipstick and a lipgloss, Wonderlust Lipstick in Sarah and Wondergloss in Fortuna. I can't help it. Stage sale assistants are really warm, friendly and nice. They didn't push you to buy anything, let you take sweet time doing swatches and testing textures and in the end, I buy stuffs that she recommend. Good SA is good SA, good for business, bad for my bank account. Nevertheless, I come out from Stage outlet with my happiness bar increase 10%. I wish MAC sale assistants/makeup artist are like that. Am I the only one who think that they are pretty intimidating that I end up running away from MAC counter when I actually have something to buy. LOL.

The thing about Pepper is that, she prefer men perfume better women perfume. I bought Euphoria Intense for Men last February, after using it for few weeks, I decided that I need a female perfume. My femininity starts to rebel against my choice of perfume. The thing is, I loathe most of female perfumes. I'm bored of floral sweet smell. I loathe Escada especially. But I found one that I actually like. At first, the plan is to buy Elizabeth Arden Sunflower EDP for my bestfriend. But the SA suggest me Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Intense Eau de Parfum instead since it got buy 2 for the price of 1 promotion. I gave one to my bestfriend and keep another one. I love love love the scent. Lovely citrus-y opening with lots of green tea. Really refreshing. Even Jerry love the perfume.

I found my HG sunscreen! Other companies take note, Japanese really know how to formulate proper sunscreen, especially for those living in humid weather. I tried Clinique and Banana Boat sunscreen, the oiliness is really a big turn off. After some research online, I decided sunscreen from Biore line. The sunscreen is ah.ma.zing! I bought Biore UV Daily Care Gel SPF28 PA++ and Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50+ PA+++. These sunscreen doesn't feel oily at all, dry to powdery finishes and doesn't feel thick. Awesome! BioZ Natural Insect Repellent Stick bought exclusively for the KK trip next month. It smell pleasant compared to the other option available at Watson. I don't know why, but I bought Dettol Instant Hand Sanitizer.

Last Wednesday to Friday was Engineering Week at my uni. Nothing really catch my attention except for Avon stall. The items sold for heavily discounted price.
Everything are RM5 each except for the mascara which is RM10. Cool huh!

I also add more babies to my nail polish collection. Let me tell you this. I love Korean made nail polishes. The quality are great and the price is so affordable.
Elianto Nail Color are sold for RM5.50 in Sabah and Sarawak. It's RM0.50 cheaper at the peninsular. I bought the black nail polish for konading and it work wonderful. But I spilled the whole bottle content that I have to get another one. Oh ya, the clear nail polish are way better that Konad Top Coat. I hate Konad Top Coat. It made the design look dull and it have bubbles trapped.

Wah~ this post is so long~~~~~ I think I should stop here.

So yeah, officially, the makeup shopping ban ends. I'm gonna do something more realistic like fixing budget for makeup or something.

Stage Cosmetics Bargain Alert + Haul!

You know what? I might as well end the self imposed makeup shopping ban. I managed to survive on the first month. On the second month, I broke the ban for a foundation and the sponsored shopping spree courtesy of my boyfriend and his mum. Third month, I broke the ban for this amazing haul!

It felt like eureka moment discovering Stage Cosmetics at such a discounted price. Let me tell you, this local brand really comparable to MAC! Before you guys go out and end up with panic shopping hoarding the goodies, I think it is important to tell you that most of the items, especially foundations and concealers was manufactured on 2008, the SA told me it expired end of this year. But Pepper being Pepper, I think I would toss it when it actually smell or look funky.

Ok, I try to remember all the stuff the SA told me. Foundation, concealer, eyeshadow base, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip liner, lipgloss, lipstick and face primer discounted to RM12 each!

Nail polish remover and nail polish discounted to RM8 each!

Face powder, blush and brush cleanser is buy one free one!

Brushes got 20% discounts!

and the promotion last until 15th April 2011!!!! Hurray! Yay! *dance~~~*\

The loot haul.
So, I end up with two bottles of Keep It Clean Brush Cleaner for RM25, two bottles of Strip Show Nail Polish Remover for RM8 per bottle, Wonderluxe Lipstick in Naughty Nude 01 for RM12, Photo Pro Creme Camouflage in Ginger 07 for RM12, Photo Pro Foundation in 08 Take 07 for RM 12, and Eye Liner in Teal Theater 07 for RM12.

Total damages: RM 81. The total without discount would be RM329. You noticed in the picture below I have two receipts. When I first bought all the items I want, I went back to get another bottle of nail polish remover and an eyeliner.
The picture below taken after I apply the foundation, concealer, eyeliner and lipstick. I have tried all the product just and let me tell you that I'm impressed with the quality. My skin look 10x better with the concealer and foundation on.
The concealer suits my skintone very well that I can apply it without foundation. The creamy consistency make it very easy to apply and to blend. It is also buildable without being cakey.

The foundation is ah-ma-ZING! A little goes a long way, it cover without feeling heavy. Definitely buildable.

Eyeliner is super! It's the first pencil eyeliner that won't smudge on my oily eyelid. It is also waterproof and smudge proof. Once it set, it smudge only when I rub really really hard.

Lipstick is also nice, the only con would be it's a bit drying. It can't be help since most lipstick in matte formulation can be drying.

Nail polish remover is da bomb! Even in original price, the nail polish really economical. And it remove nail polish very well. A little goes a long way with this.

And lastly, new love, Keep It Clean brush cleaner. With normal price of RM25, this is definitely cheap dupe for MAC brush cleanser. It works and the best thing, it comes with spray pump! Definitely a keeper.

Stage Cosmetic is really impressive and I'm so proud that we have such a good local brand. In case you're interested to get some goodies while the promotion last, you can visit www.stage-cosmetics.com . You can find store locater in the website.

That should do for now. I'm gonna do "First Impression"s posts in the next few days for this hauls.

p/s: Oh ya, before I forget, Stage concealer and foundation coloring are quite limited. The second darkest foundation and darkest concealer suits my NC25-30 skintone. Okay, I tried it again in better lighting, the foundation turn out to be a little darker. So I'm gonna get the lighter shade this weekend.

Sasa, The Body Shop, Daiso and books hauls

I spent the past few days in KL with no plan to shop. But I end up breaking the makeup shopping ban this time mainly because someone, ok, my bf and his mum, sponsored pretty much everything, and I was given pocket money specifically for shopping. LOL.The hauls collectively.

I bought Calvin Klein Euphoria Intense for men EDT from Sasa, and given DSQUARED2 HeWood Hair and Body Wash, giovanni Magnetic Restruxturing Conditioner and Sasa Smart White Regenerating Night Cream for free. I didn't know Sasa is generous with gifts. Oh ya, just in case, yes, I wear men's perfume. I'm practically a sucker for men perfume.

From The Body Shop, I bought Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel, Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion and Seaweed Clarifying Toner. I received a sample of Dreams Unlimited EDP for free. Anyway, the reason I bought The Body Shop toner instead of Clinique's because I'm sick of the Clinique SA that keep pushing me to buy things that I don't want. The Body Shop SA is very helpful, she let me take my time to choose a toner and she's also knowledgeable of the products. She suggests me three toner with the least alcohol content instead of pushing me buying the one for acne prone skin after seeing all those ugly blemish on my cheek. Take that Clinique's SA, there goes your commissions.

What a KL trip without going to Daiso. This time, I managed to control myself and bought only two items, the airless pump bottle and a facial brush. I think the facial brush is softer than the one from The Body Shop.

Lastly, with the pocket money given, I bought 4 books that take up most of the space in my luggage. I bought J.R.R. Tolkien's The Children of Hurin, The Hobbit, and The Unfinished Tales. I was ecstatic and hyperventilating when I found Terry Pratchett's Unseen Academicals for RM20! His books usually goes for RM35 and above. Furthermore, this baby is hardcover.

I hope this would be my last hauls until my makeup shopping ban ends. *Crossing fingers and toes*

Some Haul - Clinique Samples and Non-Cosmetics Products

I'm still on makeup shopping ban, so, strictly speaking, I can't buy any cosmetics product except one that I'm run out and actually need. However, I'm lucky enough to get mails from Clinique and given two cards to redeem few of their products sample. The sale assistant kind enough to allow me to redeem the expired card. She gave Liquid Facial Soap Mild (15ml), City Block Sheer SPF25 (7ml) with keychain, Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (7ml) and Turnaround Concentrate (7ml). I'm pretty happy with the SA except for the fact she keep urging me to get the the Anti-Blemish Solutions when I actually specifically told her I'm wanted to know about toner that is milder than Clarifying Lotion 3. I think it can't be help since the Anti-Blemish Solutions 3-Step Skin Care is a lil bit more expensive than the normal one.

Next is I got some non-cosmetics products. I bought extra virgin olive oil, Sunsilk shampoo and conditioner, Carefree pantiliner, Darlie toothpaste and Oral-B toothbrush.

I'm in love with extra virgin olive oil. I think EVOO will permanently replace my favourite Maybelline Eye and Lip Make Up Remover.

p/s: My giveaway gonna ends tonight. I think I would announce the winner tomorrow or the next day.

Haul, January Empties and EOTDs

This would be the last makeup haul for me as I'm in self-imposed makeup shopping ban until May. I ordered all this stuffs from several sprees last year and it just arrived this month.I got...
  • ELF Essential Feather Proof Moisturising Lip Liner in Natural Blush
  • Kryolan TV Paint Stick in 4w and V14 (actually someone ordered it through me and back out last week. A bit pissed off about it, but the damages has been done)
  • ELF Studio Blush in Blushing Rose.
  • NYX Concealer in Jar - Medium. I ordered another in Glow, but it's a lil too dark for me, so I swapped it with Aisyah.
  • ELF Studio Cream Eye Liner in Plum Purple.
  • ELF Mineral Blemish Kit
  • ELF Essential Clarifying Pressed Powder in Spice, Toffee and Apricot Beige.

Influenced by Gaby, I decided to this type of post every month. I'm gonna share products that I finished up that months and a lil bit of my thought about the product.

  1. ELF Mineral Blemish Kit sample - This sample is one of my 10 Pan Project item. I used it mainly as facial mask when my face very oily. As replacement, I will used the full sized product from haul above.
  2. ELF Cream Eye Liner Black in sample jar - Alright, the eyeliner in these sample jar are results from my experiments to revive the eyeliner. I still have a lot more in the original jar to use.
  3. Maybelline Eye and Lip Makeup Remover - Also one of 10 Pan Project Item. A good makeup remover, I had started to use another bottle that I bought last December. I'm considering of not repurchasing this makeup remover as I learn Maybelline is not cruelty free.
  4. ELF Seductive Lipstick - Okay, I cheat for this one. The lipstick was depotted as it was broken, but I used up the left over in the original container.
  5. Color Sense Mineral Eyeshadow - This one not technically empty, but I gonna throw this away since it is already more than 5 years old.
  6. Guardian Wet Wipes - I used this up when I do swatches pictures. Very handy, but most unlikely to repurchase at the moment.
  7. Constance Carroll conditioning Nail Enamel Remover - Another 10 Pan Project Item. This nail remover works well. I have another back up for replacement.
  8. Vaseline Healthy White Skin Lightening Lotion in travel pump bottle - I brought this bottle of lotion during my trip to Johor last December, but I hardly used it up. I managed to finish it up this week since my skin unbearably dry. The original bottle still have tonnes of lotions left, so I wouldn't repurchase this any time soon.

Lastly, here are few EOTDs through out this week.

The last haul of 2010

Yeah, all that are my last haul for the year 2010. It was also my last purchase before I start my 10 Pan Project. Some of the items are for giveaway prize that I'm gonna host pretty soon!
From Daiso, I bought
  • a travel mirror. This mirror is huge! It got a regular mirror and a magnifying mirror, housed in a very sturdy plastic case.
  • 3 airless pump bottles. It's only RM5/bottle, in ebay, it gonna cost RM50++ for two. What a steal! I'd tried the bottle, it work great despite the low price.
  • Detergent for puff and sponge.
  • Eyebrow and eyeliner coat. These two is great dupe for Benefit She-Laq.
I also bought 2 nail polishes from Etude House (the bottle is kawaii), UDPP Pro size (this gonna last me forever), Silkygirl blusher, false lashes and earrings.

I'm very pleased with my purchase from Daiso, I wish I could get more stuff, but I'm too sick to browse every single aisle in the store. Well, at least I end up saving some money. Hehe.

ELF Mini Haul and Gift from Jiyuu.

I received a very interesting book and two pairs of gorgeous earrings from Jiyuu last Tuesday. The book, Sentimental Murder is one of the most unique and interesting book that I have. I'm hooked!
This morning I received my ELF parcel. The brush belt is second hand item, but I'm surprised to see how dirty it is when I opened the parcel. So I clean it up using baby oil since water and diluted detergent doesn't seem to work. Finally I got the cream eyeliner in Metallic Olive, it's a very pretty khaki cream eyeliner.

Yet Another ELF Haul Yo! Plus Swatches.

Some of the products in this haul are back ups. So I would only elaborate more on stuffs that I didn't get from previous hauls.
I got another 3 tubes of ELF Essential Mascara, read review here.
Glad that the ELF Essential Blending Eye Brush is batch #00618. Read this to find out what the difference between batch #00618 and older batches.
Recent batch of ELF Essential Eyeshadow Brush seems to be not as good as previous batch.
I got another 2 tubes of ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer and ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit for back up. This gonna last me for long.

Clockwise
  • ELF Essential Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder (Left:Luminance, Right: Matte Bronze) - Luminance is perfect for highlighting, the texture very smooth, very shimmer. Matte Bronze got very little gold glitter in it, but it is matte when swatched.
  • ELF Essential Long Wear Lip Liner - Pretty shade, the liner is not hard at all, not sure whether it would feather or not.
  • ELF Essential Individual Lash Kit - I don't think the glue works, but the lashes looks lovely. I find this lashes are reusable.
  • ELF Essential Eyelid Primer - The texture quite similar to ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. Smell rather bad.

Top to bottom
  • ELF Essential Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 (Candlelight and Honey Do) - I love this glosses.
  • ELF Essential Lipstick (Classy, Seductive and Gypsy) - This lipsticks really exceed my expectation. All the shades are lovely and the texture quite nice. Seductive however are broken, I think it is a lil soft. Cheap packaging also didn't help.
Don't you noticed there's a lot of giveaways in December, surely that's not a problem since I love giveaway
