Review and NOTD: MNY (Maybelline New York) my Varnish

MNY is a line from Maybelline focused on younger audience with brighter color, fancy packaging and cheaper price. This brand debut in Europe and I'm pretty sure it is not in Malaysia, at least yet. You can check out the website here http://www.mny.com/us/index.html#/home

To the product itself, these two nail polishes are pretty good. It is easy to apply and does not chipped easily. I have it on for about a week with minimal chipping at the edge of my nails. The purple applied slightly easier than the pink one. The products not opaque enough that I need at least three coat to make sure there are no bald spots. Oh ya, before I forget, I got these nail polishes from swap with Aisyah. Thanks ^^,
Purple (553), Pink (008A)

In the picture above, on my thumbs nail, I apply the purple (553) over dark green nail polishes. I'm not sure if shown in the picture, the purple nail polish have pink shimmer. The other one is bubblegum pink with no glitter or shimmer.

I think that is all I got to say about this products. Have a nice day everyone.

Tutorial: Lazy Sunday Green Smokey Eyes

I have this sudden urge to make a youtube video, sadly my skin is recovering from nasty clogged pores (I'm blame you Everyday Minerals base). My skin is currently in a bad condition, with redness and tiny bumps of clogged pores, doesn't look that good. Since I really wanted to do something about the video, I end up doing this tutorial. FYI, I'm not in anyway queen of blending or master of the eye makeup, but I think I did decent job for someone who learn doing makeup from blogs and youtube videos.
  • A - Apply ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer all over the lid up to browbone.
  • B - Apply ELF Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black on the lid extended a little over the crease as base.
  • C - Pat darkest green in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Ivy over the black base in B.
  • D - Apply light brown in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Luxe as browbone highlight.
  • E - Apply brown in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Ivy between C and D, blend.
  • F - Apply light grey in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Teal Dream on the inner corner.
  • not in picture, apply NYX Black single eyeshadow on the outer corner on top of the dark green and blend to add dimension.
For under the eye, apply light grey in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Teal Dream 1/3 from inner corner, darkest green in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Ivy 1/3 in the middle and NYX Black single eyeshadow 1/3 from the outer corner.

Lastly line the eyes with ELF Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black and apply mascara. I used Maybelline Great Lash, I can't wait to finish it up.
The camera wash out the intensity of the eyeshadow. It actually look dramatic, the kind of look I prefer for night time out.

Review: Maybelline Eye & Lip Make Up Remover.

Maybelline Eye & Lip Make Up Remover claimed to removes all waterproof makeup efficiently and it actually did! It is ophthalmologically and dermatologically tested. Thus, this remover are gentle to the eyes and skin.

I got mine from Guardian store for RM16.90 for 70ml. A bottle would last on me for at least 2 months. To use, shake the remover until the dual phase mix well and soak cotton pad with the remover.

Pat and wipe the remover-soaked cotton pad gently to the lid.

Both side of the of used cotton pad. It removed everything!

First wipe removed all the eyeshadow and most of the eyeliner. Mascara need a little work to remove.
Mascara completely removed.

It only takes one swipe to remove this hard core red lipstick.

This remover also works to remove blusher, face powder and BB cream/foundation.

Cheek wiped with remover-soaked cotton pad.

The fourth cotton pad in the picture below shown cotton pad soaked with toner and wiped over face after using makeup remover. There are still quite a lot of foundation/face powder left. So, it is still necessary to wash your face using facial cleanser.

Gross~

Bare-faced.

Verdict: Great makeup remover, inexpensive and easily available in Guardian or Watson. I'll definitely repurchased this makeup remover. Highly recommended.

Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Very Black, the mascara I love to hate!

I hate this mascara so much, that at one point I ignore it for quite sometime. But that is only until I learn how to make this nasty stuff work for me. The main reason I bought this mascara because of it's dirt cheap price, RM17 per tube of 12ml in LYN. Furthermore, this mascara is not available in Malaysia and the original version is highly rave by a lot of beauty editor. So I am highly curious.

The original of this mascara is non waterproof with green cap instead of black. I'm so glad that I didn't bought that one as from reviews I read and from Youtube videos I watch, I conclude that the original version is far worst than the one I have. The brush for this mascara is slightly smaller when compared to E.L.F. Essential Regular and Waterproof Mascara Duo, so it works well for lower lashes.

The main reason why I hate this mascara is that it is so hard to remove! When I first bought it, all of my waterproof mascara easily removed using Body Shop Vit E facial cleanser, but not this Great Lash. The only thing that can remove it completely is Maybelline Eyes & Lips Make-up remover.
Despite the name Great Lash, there's nothing great about the mascara except for the price. Even though it is waterproof, it tends to smudge and clumps badly. Even if it does lengthen lashes, but it does it very ugly way. The end of the lashes tend to droop and it looks weird. This mascara doesn't really hold up curl well.

Since this mascara is in the my 10 pan project list, I'm still gonna finish it up. However, I'll never repurchase it and I wouldn't recommend this mascara to anyone.

Hauls: L.A. Colors Clinique etc

Metallic Eyeshadow Palette -Mesmerize, Soiree, Tease. Only Soiree really catch my attention. I couldn't make Tease and Mesmerize work for me.
Dual Blush - Pink Mauve/Cranberry. So pigmented that I can't used it. I can't make myself apply blusher lightly.
Liquid Makeup -Tan. Too dark, and pretty much causing oily face
Lipstick - Matte Cranberry Red, Jazzy Red, Luscious Wine. all the shades pretty similar, funky smell but still a good lipstick
Nail Polish Remover. it's cheap and it works
Nail Lacquer - Ruby Slippers, Suede. both are nice shades and easy to apply, dry quite fast and last pretty long w/o base and top coat (about 1.5 weeks).

Clinique 3-step skin care, skin type 3, combination oily to oily. Cleanser - Good, not drying. Toner - Doesn't sting as much as Type 2. Moisturizing gel - Love~ work great for lips!
sample Clinique All About Eyes feels nice when applied, doesn't seem to reduced dark circle or anything.

Maybelline Eyes & Lips Make-up remover. Works wonder!
Lady Speed Stick Deodorant. Works okay
uptownvision All Over Shimmer. Swatch looks good

nail polishes and nail polish remover given by my sister, RDL papaya soap (this soap is bad for your skin!)
