Review and Swatch: L.A. Colors Twisty Lip Gloss Coral Cobbler

This lipgloss comes in a sturdy cute packaging. To use it, twist the bottom of the packaging until the lipgloss come out from the slanted applicator tip. Eventho I prefer slanted tip applicator most of the time, this one just not my favourite, it doesn't apply the lipgloss evenly right away. I think this is because of there's too much holes on the tip. The size is good tho.

The problem with the twist mechanism to get the product to tip is that it tend to twist out too much. Most of the time, I end up wiping the excess off, such a waste in long term. Sometimes, I found some lipgloss stick inside the cap. It could be I twisted the gloss accidentally inside my bag or something.

L.A. Colors website describes this lipgloss as "Hydrate and Volumize your lips with these bright, sheer colors! Leaves lips soft, hydrated & vibrant!". Well, I love the color of this lipgloss, especially when it looks great in picture. Sadly, I'm not fond of the smell and the stickiness. It's sticky, but not moisturising. Boo~ It's not hydrating, my $1 ELF lipgloss works much better than this one. This lipgloss last for few hours before it become unbearably drying and uncomfortable.

Another con of this lipgloss is the fact that everytime I want to put this on, I have exfoliate my lips, if not, it would exaggerate any part that dry. For me, lipgloss should be a quick fix to dry lips. Simply slap it on and problem solve.

Would I repurchase? No.
Would I recommend? No.

NOTD: L.A. Colors Ruby Slippers & FOTD: E.L.F. Butternut

This shimmery red nail polish really live up its name, it reminds me a lot of the ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz. I used two coats and boy it's easy to apply. It applied smooth, but I really think it need a good top coat as it chip off easily.

The past few days I've been really lazy for makeup. I'm too lazy to play with my eyeshadow that I always end up using only one color. No brainer right? Applied any color to the lid and blend up to the crease. Easy! Breaking the habit today, I used all 4 shades in E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color Butternut. But, I'm still too lazy to blend it properly. Am I having makeup withdrawal syndrome? Hell no! No way. You can take my handbags or my dresses (but please don't do that), never my makeup.

Last weekend, I collected all used travel sized bottles, jars and empty cosmetics containers and washed it all. I'm gonna used some of it for my holiday trip end of this year. Reusing bottles like this will help extending use of the material, and helping reducing waste in long term. Furthermore, doing this prevents me from getting the airless pump bottles from Ebay. Save~

I reorganized the way I use my makeup brushes. Instead of having everything in the brush tin can, I only placed the one I'm using there. The rest tucked in nicely in the brush roll. So instead of washing about 30 brushes every end of the week or so, I just need to wash less than 10 brushes. Phew~

L.A. Colors Lipstick (Cranberry Red, Jazzy Red and Lucious Wine) Swatches

From left to right: Cranberry Red, Jazzy Red, Lucious Wine

For an inexpensive lipstick, L.A. Colors lipsticks are actually good. The seller that I bought these lipsticks from even says that these lipsticks are comparable to MAC's. I don't have a single MAC lipstick, so I'm not really sure about that.

IMHO, these lipstick texture way better than NYX round lipstick. It have this particular scent, like how lipsticks used to smell ages ago. 'Ages ago' I mean when I used to play with my mum's lipsticks when I was small.

I find L.A. Colors lipstick to be very pigmented. However, it is a lil drying on my lips. I never wear this lipsticks out, so I don't know how long-lasting this lipsticks are.

The swatches online are not accurate at all, that explains why I have 3 red lipstick that's rather similar.

Swatch: L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette Tease | More Giveaway!

Swatch with (above) and without (below) flash

The pink color is the least chalky and the easiest to blend in Tease Palette

The colors are nice, however, once the supa shimmery top layer of the eyeshadow removed, we're left with chalky eyeshadow that hardly blend. I'm not impressed. Will not repurchase.

GIVEAWAY, YAY!

You gotta love this blog if you're a bargain hunter, lot's of her posts make me drool. Reviews in this blog also awesome, I love how she grade the product.

Review and FOTD: L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette Mesmerize

Mesmerize is my second L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette. You can find review for Soiree tagged ' L A Colors'. The casing and everything else pretty much same. However, I find that Mesmerize is less pigmented and less shimmery than Soiree. The Mesmerize shades is pretty much the opposite of Soiree. The colors, beige, green, purple, blue and grey, are muted colors.

Regarding texture, all the eyeshadow feels chalky, especially purple. The purple one also is the one that is least pigmented. I feel bad about that since it look lovely in pan. Mesmerize palette is harder to blend compared to Soiree.

Just like Soiree, top layer of the eyeshadow are much more shimmery, so for this review, I removed the top layer using cotton pad.

Without flash. This palette is not as pigmented Soiree.

With flash. This palette also not as shimmery as Soiree.

Since Mesmerize is not that pigmented, I think this palette is okay for everyday use. The eyeshadow applied over E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. Will using UDPP instead would make the color show up more vibrant?

Beige in the inner corner, purple in the middle and blue in the outer corner blended into crease. Grey and green lined under eye.
When I first bought this palette, I have high expection for Mesmerize because of the lovely shade. However the poor texture and pigmentation is such a big turn off that I'm quite disappointed. I wouldn't not repurchase any of the L.A. Colors palette as I find E.L.F Brightening Color suits me better.

FOTD

I applied the BB cream thinner than in Soiree review FOTD, and I noticed the blemishes much more visible here.

Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream, E.L.F. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black, E.L.F. Essential Clarifying Pressed Powder in Honey, E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer (not in pic), Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof in Very Black, Silky Girl Blusher Honeywood, L.A Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette Mesmerize, Clinique High Impact Honey Blush lipstick, Nivea Lip Care Rose Velvet.

Review and FOTD: L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette Soiree | Productrater Sigma Holiday Sigmax Brush Set Giveaway!

In this post I going to review L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette in Soiree. The palette comes in sleek thin plastic case with transparent lid. The applicator that comes with the palette is okay as long as you don't wash it. I tried to wash it, and the sponges come off.

The palette eyeshadow is finishes obviously shimmery metallic. Top layer of the eyeshadow are much more shimmery, so for this review, I removed the top layer using cotton pad. So the swatches below made from the eyeshadow lower layer.

The colors in this palette are grey, light blue, pink, blue and purple.

Without flash. The colors in this palette are very vibrant, only one swipe needed to reach the swatches intensity.

With flash, here you can see, even after the eyeshadow top layer removed, it's still shimmery(metallic)

The price are obviously a big plus, it's a good value since the eyeshadow are very pigmented. However, I noticed that these eyeshadow doesn't blend well. IMO, it works better alone. As comparison, E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color, like Luxe, Ivy, Blue Moon and many others blends better.

I think it doesn't blend well because the formulation is somewhat chalky. This palette need good eyeshadow primer to work. Overall, this product is decent.

I used four out five color in the palette today.

Grey in the inner corner, pink in the middle and purple in the outer corner blended into crease. Blue lined under eye.
FOTD

Products that I used today, Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream, E.L.F. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black, E.L.F. Essential Clarifying Pressed Powder in Honey, Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof in Very Black, E.L.F. Essential Blusher in Flushed, L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette in Soiree. E.L.F. Essential Lipstick in Posh, Nivea Lip Care Rose Velvet, E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer (not in picture).

Lately I couldn't be bothered to cover my under eye circle. It doesn't look so bad in the picture above. I guess the BB cream does slightly conceal imperfections.
Sorry for the annoying smug face, but this picture shows the blusher, eyeshadow and lipstick color better.

Hauls: L.A. Colors Clinique etc

Metallic Eyeshadow Palette -Mesmerize, Soiree, Tease. Only Soiree really catch my attention. I couldn't make Tease and Mesmerize work for me.
Dual Blush - Pink Mauve/Cranberry. So pigmented that I can't used it. I can't make myself apply blusher lightly.
Liquid Makeup -Tan. Too dark, and pretty much causing oily face
Lipstick - Matte Cranberry Red, Jazzy Red, Luscious Wine. all the shades pretty similar, funky smell but still a good lipstick
Nail Polish Remover. it's cheap and it works
Nail Lacquer - Ruby Slippers, Suede. both are nice shades and easy to apply, dry quite fast and last pretty long w/o base and top coat (about 1.5 weeks).

Clinique 3-step skin care, skin type 3, combination oily to oily. Cleanser - Good, not drying. Toner - Doesn't sting as much as Type 2. Moisturizing gel - Love~ work great for lips!
sample Clinique All About Eyes feels nice when applied, doesn't seem to reduced dark circle or anything.

Maybelline Eyes & Lips Make-up remover. Works wonder!
Lady Speed Stick Deodorant. Works okay
uptownvision All Over Shimmer. Swatch looks good

nail polishes and nail polish remover given by my sister, RDL papaya soap (this soap is bad for your skin!)
