Simple EOTD 5/8/11

Simple eye makeup that can be done in less than 3 minutes.

I used
ELF Metallic Olive Cream Eye Liner as base.

Applied taupe shade from ELF Ivy Quad to blend the eye liner base.

And one coat of mascara since the weather is really hot today.

p/s: I noticed using lipgloss during fasting is the best way to test how long it would last.

Luxe - day to nite

Yesterday, before I removed my makeup in the Luxe Fortuna post, I decided to try making the eyes more dramatic while using the exact same palette, calling each Day or Nite look.

Day look objective is to make the eyes look fresh without actually being obvious. While Nite look is sort of screaming for attention.

Since my lid hooded/folded heavily, whenever I do 'Day' or simple look, I would focus all the dark or strong color on the main lid that hidden when I open my eyes. And then, I used color that is quite close to skin color on the crease and blend it upwards. Other than that, eyeliner applied thinly and nothing applied to the lower lashline.

For 'Night' or dramatic look, I bring the dark or strong color higher, above my natural crease. This way, the dark or strong colour would still look obvious even when I close my eyes. Highlight under the brow also applied heavier to balance out with the lid and crease. Eyeliner applied thicker, eyeshadow and mascara also applied to the lower lash line. I'm not sure if I make sense in this post, but this inspire me for a tutorial post later.

Luxe Fortuna

I think it had been quite sometime I posted EOTD in this blog. I guess my everyday eye look is boring compared to the usual experiment (all the "Not EOTD"). And I finally master the method of applying gel/cream eyeliner very thinly and very closely to the lash line. The key is the brush.I used ELF Brightening Eye Color in Luxe for this look.
Today I use Stage Wondergloss lip gloss in Fortuna. I'm not good at describing color, but I can tell you it's a warm shade that suit my olive skintone very well. The gloss is very moisturising! I love love the brush applicator.

Second attempt...

on cut-crease....gah~ this technique is so hard to grasp. Again, only picture of one eye since I couldn't make both match. I run out of strip lashes, so I simply pile on individual lashes.
Conclusion, more practice needed.

Some Eye Look

Basically the one on the picture above was done when I tried to practice cut-crease and creating TRON inspired look. You can see from the pic below, it doesn't come out as nice as I hope it would be (I need to practice more). So I improvise a little by cleaning up some part and having some crazy lashes glued on. Honestly, I'm quite fond of the dramatic lower lashes. The lower lashes is actually part of lashes that is too long for my small eyes.

Below is some EOTDs in the past few days. I'm kinda in a phase where I'm into colorful eyeliner. Thank god I'm on make up shopping ban as I'm pretty sure I would go crazy and buy dozens of other colors to play with.

Haul, January Empties and EOTDs

This would be the last makeup haul for me as I'm in self-imposed makeup shopping ban until May. I ordered all this stuffs from several sprees last year and it just arrived this month.I got...
  • ELF Essential Feather Proof Moisturising Lip Liner in Natural Blush
  • Kryolan TV Paint Stick in 4w and V14 (actually someone ordered it through me and back out last week. A bit pissed off about it, but the damages has been done)
  • ELF Studio Blush in Blushing Rose.
  • NYX Concealer in Jar - Medium. I ordered another in Glow, but it's a lil too dark for me, so I swapped it with Aisyah.
  • ELF Studio Cream Eye Liner in Plum Purple.
  • ELF Mineral Blemish Kit
  • ELF Essential Clarifying Pressed Powder in Spice, Toffee and Apricot Beige.

Influenced by Gaby, I decided to this type of post every month. I'm gonna share products that I finished up that months and a lil bit of my thought about the product.

  1. ELF Mineral Blemish Kit sample - This sample is one of my 10 Pan Project item. I used it mainly as facial mask when my face very oily. As replacement, I will used the full sized product from haul above.
  2. ELF Cream Eye Liner Black in sample jar - Alright, the eyeliner in these sample jar are results from my experiments to revive the eyeliner. I still have a lot more in the original jar to use.
  3. Maybelline Eye and Lip Makeup Remover - Also one of 10 Pan Project Item. A good makeup remover, I had started to use another bottle that I bought last December. I'm considering of not repurchasing this makeup remover as I learn Maybelline is not cruelty free.
  4. ELF Seductive Lipstick - Okay, I cheat for this one. The lipstick was depotted as it was broken, but I used up the left over in the original container.
  5. Color Sense Mineral Eyeshadow - This one not technically empty, but I gonna throw this away since it is already more than 5 years old.
  6. Guardian Wet Wipes - I used this up when I do swatches pictures. Very handy, but most unlikely to repurchase at the moment.
  7. Constance Carroll conditioning Nail Enamel Remover - Another 10 Pan Project Item. This nail remover works well. I have another back up for replacement.
  8. Vaseline Healthy White Skin Lightening Lotion in travel pump bottle - I brought this bottle of lotion during my trip to Johor last December, but I hardly used it up. I managed to finish it up this week since my skin unbearably dry. The original bottle still have tonnes of lotions left, so I wouldn't repurchase this any time soon.

Lastly, here are few EOTDs through out this week.

24 Dec 2010 FOTD and OOTD

Air Asia rescheduled my flight again. Instead of departure at 6.45pm, they reschedule back to 8.00pm. To be safe, I come to the airport early, you know, in case Air Asia change their mind again. So, I have lots of free time before departure, and since I'm stuck at the airport, I might as well enjoy a cup of Starbucks and take my time blogging.

I really like today FOTD despite not so good skin condition. I'm really happy to find that ELF Studio Blusher Mellow Mauve and ELF Essential Lipstick Gypsy are match made in heaven, they complement each other very well!

My hair won't fluff out as I want it to be. Maybe it's because the EMC hair mask last night weight my hair down, even after shampoo. Well, at least my hair is well moisturised. But, but, I want lion mane hair~
Sorry for the toilet background. I find that my faculty toilet have the best natural lighting for camera in the morning. Not exactly a eureka moment.

I need to show some love to my neglected quads, so today I used ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color in Blue Moon. I skip eyeliner today, too lazy to line my eyes.

Now, highlight of the day, ELF Essential Lipstick in Gypsy and ELF Essential Super Glossy Lip Shine in Pink Kiss on top. This combo last for a very long time. I reapply after lunch and it had been 6.5 hours, it still going strong.

LOL, I think how this edited pictures come out is kinda funny. My over-zealous picture-combining activity is actually a good thing! Outfit of the day consist of blue jacket and heels from Padini, RM15 no-brand jeans and RM10 t-shirt from Times Square. I don't I'm gonna do OOTD post again, I don't think this is my kind of stuff.

Tutorial: Lazy Sunday Green Smokey Eyes

I have this sudden urge to make a youtube video, sadly my skin is recovering from nasty clogged pores (I'm blame you Everyday Minerals base). My skin is currently in a bad condition, with redness and tiny bumps of clogged pores, doesn't look that good. Since I really wanted to do something about the video, I end up doing this tutorial. FYI, I'm not in anyway queen of blending or master of the eye makeup, but I think I did decent job for someone who learn doing makeup from blogs and youtube videos.
  • A - Apply ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer all over the lid up to browbone.
  • B - Apply ELF Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black on the lid extended a little over the crease as base.
  • C - Pat darkest green in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Ivy over the black base in B.
  • D - Apply light brown in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Luxe as browbone highlight.
  • E - Apply brown in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Ivy between C and D, blend.
  • F - Apply light grey in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Teal Dream on the inner corner.
  • not in picture, apply NYX Black single eyeshadow on the outer corner on top of the dark green and blend to add dimension.
For under the eye, apply light grey in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Teal Dream 1/3 from inner corner, darkest green in ELF Essential Brightening Eye Color Ivy 1/3 in the middle and NYX Black single eyeshadow 1/3 from the outer corner.

Lastly line the eyes with ELF Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black and apply mascara. I used Maybelline Great Lash, I can't wait to finish it up.
The camera wash out the intensity of the eyeshadow. It actually look dramatic, the kind of look I prefer for night time out.

Tutorial: Luxe

Hi, this is more to 'How I put my makeup on' more than a tutorial. I do this for all the laughs and giggles.
1) Apply ELF Essential Eyelid primer and blend.
2)Using ELF Essential Eyeshadow Brush, apply 'A' in Luxe quad 2/3 from eyes inner corner.
3)Using the same brush in step 2, apply 'B' 1/3 from eyes outer corner. Blend 'B' into 'A' using ELF Blending Eye Brush.
4) Using ELF Blending Eye Brush, apply 'C' in the outer corner and blend into crease.
5) Apply 'D' using ELF Blending Eye Brush on crease and blend to brow bone

Finally, apply eyeliner, mascara or/and false lashes. In the picture below, I put on 3 pieces of ELF Individual Lash Kit on the outer corner. I love how natural looking the lashes are, it can be trim for customization. It a lot more comfortable than strip lashes.

I actually enjoy preparing the pictures for this post. I don't have Adobe Photoshop or some special softwares, so I just use Paint, Microsoft Office Picture Manager and Powerpoint.

Randomness of The Day

Trying to do two type of blue smokey eye. gah phail big time. /facepalm.

Latest addition to my shoes collection. I need more flats, so I got these two. The one on the left is actually a broken size shoes, which mean for right leg its size 36, and for left leg its size 35, I add insole to even it out. Can't complain since it's only price RM20.

The black one is from Padini. It's priced RM 15 after after 70% discount. I used my RM10 rebate voucher. Basically I paid only RM5 for this shoes. I love year end sale.

Yesterday's FOTD and Today EOTD XD

Yesterday's look done using Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream, E.L.F. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black, E.L.F. Essential Clarifying Pressed Powder in Rosy Beige, E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer, Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof in Very Black, L.A. Colors Twisty Lip Gloss in Coral Cobbler, E.L.F. Studio Blusher in Mellow Mauve, L.A. Colors Metallic Eyeshadow Palette in Soiree and Mesmerize.

Combination of purple from Soiree and light brown from Mesmerize palette for the eyes. Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream set using E.L.F. Essential Clarifying Pressed Powder in Rosy Beige doesn't look nice in picture as the BB Cream shade is a little too light for me, but it doesn't look that bad in real life. I love how the combination minimize oil on my face.

Today's EOTD done using E.L.F. Essential Brightening Eye Color in Nymph Dream, Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof in Very Black and E.L.F. Studio Cream
Lately, I have tendencies of wearing heavy makeup that I actually tried hard to refrain myself from going over the top as I'm only going to the lab each day. So, again, I go for teal color as it look bright enough to satisfy my inner makeup monster. Teal and light golden combination on my lid today gives soft look with the brightness of that teal (did I make sense here?). I'm too lazy to do much to my eyebrows, so I just comb it a lil. It looks brighter in real life. I really do think that this teal is really a lovely shade
